Description
This old twisted square stock terminal and specialty square cast bronze pointed fastener were removed from a very old carriage house in New York not far from the "Hungerford Brass and Copper Company" subsidiary "Ansonia Brass". It's shown in their catalog 1890-1910. The patent number for a similar fastener is from 1868. The square to round splicer connected to a 7/16" solid copper single strand cable. Original down conductor section is included. These were not mounted with stands. If you look at the bends, these were mounted to a wood ridge board where the main cable ran on the lower edge of the ridge board where the terminal was connected to the horizontal conductor. The 90 degree bend crossed the ridge board to the peak where the terminal 45ed up to be Plumb. The square fastener kept these from rolling out of plumb. I was planning to display this by coiling the solid conductor so it acts like a stand.
