    Description

    Very old, hand carved whirligig of military figure in dress uniform -- red shirt, black hat and boots, white trousers.
    Note: Face is painted on both sides, with the white stripe reversed.
    No maker marks, but likely crafted circa 1900.
    Still in excellent physical condition, sturdy, and with rotating paddles operating and intact.  Shows some normal age wear to the paint, with nice crackling.
    Dimensions: Soldier is 12" tall (piece is a total of 14.5" tall with extended paddles.)
    A one-of-a-kind piece of American folk art.
