Description
You are bidding on an antique copper and zinc horse & sulky weathervane.Age:
1880s - early 1900s
Maker:
Probably,
BROAD GAUGE IRON STALL WORKS;
Boston, Mass (per 1890 catalog image)
Condition:
Very Good.
Very nicely patinated. There is a slight separation on the rim of one wheel, and one spoke has separated at the rim (both, easy solders). One of the jockey's legs has a bit of separation at a seam. Overall, a very lovely example of a late 19th/early 20th century weathervane. Better detail than most. No bullet holes. Not perfect, but therein lies the charm.
Material:
Copper and zinc
.
The finely detailed jockey's head appears to be cast zinc. Please consult the photographs to confirm my assessment of the weathervane's condition and beauty.
